The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Manapetra is a gorgeous, striking Brunello, no doubt about it. That said, I am not sure these two 2004 Riservas are so different they merit separate bottlings. The 2004 Riserva Vigna Manapetra is rich, layered and sumptuous in its dark spiced plums and cherries, with waves of fruit that continue to caress that palate. The French oak is impeccably balanced and is only really felt in the wine’s textural richness, while the finish is long, round and impeccably polished. This is a beautiful effort from La Lecciaia. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2024.
Fattoria la Lecciaia is a small property located in Montalcino although the vineyards are between Castelnuovo dell’Abate and Montalcino.
