Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru les Referts from Domaine Bachelet-Monnot is showing a touch of creamy oak on the nose, but it will be assumed with bottle age and it already displays commendable delineation. The palate is well balanced, flinty and lightly spiced on the entry, fanning out wonderfully on the mid-palate with real drive and intensity on the finish but it does need to absorb the wood. As I opined in my previous note, this is a les Referts for those with patience - but it will be worth the wait.
