The 2006 Block’s Road Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for 20 months in 35% new French oak, is a saturated opaque purple color. It delivers an alluring perfume of pain grille, pencil lead, spice box, black currant, and blackberry leading to an elegantly styled wine with a smooth texture, spicy, savory black fruit, ripe tannin, and a long, pure finish. Give it 3-4 years of additional cellaring and drink it from 2011 to 2021. Kilikanoon’s portfolio includes a number of notable values that are listed at the conclusion of this report. Kilikanoon’s winemaker is the talented Kevin Mitchell. The house specialty is Shiraz but Mitchell does equally well with Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Grenache.Importer: Gavin Speight, Old Bridge Cellars; www.oldbridgecellars.com
