I have noticed in the past that Jean-Luc Mayard's wines tend to show better after bottling. Certainly the 1994 Chateauneuf du Pape was impressive from barrel and it appears to have lost little in the bottling process. It exhibits a deep ruby color, an expressive, spicy, cherry, Provencal herb, smoky-scented nose, round, rich, sweet, fruity flavors, medium to full body, a velvety texture, and a spicy, clean, fleshy finish. It is a wine to drink over the next 6-8 years. This wine was tasted between June 1 and June 16, 1996.Importer: New Castle Imports, Myrtle Beach, SC; tel. (803) 497-8625
