This is a big-time sleeper of the vintage and a testament to owner Brigitte Rullier, who is making terrific efforts at this Fronsac estate. Dense purple in color with lots of raspberry and black currant fruit moving toward blueberries, the wine shows chalky minerality, surprising depth and richness in this vintage. It is asserting itself as one of the best wines of this undervalued and still astonishingly under-the-radar appellation of Fronsac. The final blend for the 2013 from this 33-acres estate is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. What Brigitte has done so well in 2013 is not push extraction. The result is an effusively fruity, yet complex, wine that shows the relatively fast evolution of this vintage, but at the same time it has purity, depth and ripeness. Kudos to Brigitte. She nailed it. Drink over the next 7-8 years.
