The dark-colored 1990 Pommard-Epenots is closed, giving up vague aromas of sweet new oak and ripe, earthy, plummy fruit. This broad-shouldered, well-endowed wine reveals considerable tannin, as well as excellent concentration. My instincts suggest it should be cellared for 3-4 years; it will last for 10-15. Dubreuil has always made fashionable, elegant, light-colored wines known for their finesse, not to mention their precociousness and easy drinkability. I thought the 1990s to be the densest, most highly extracted wines I have tasted from this cellar. Importer: Martine's Wines, San Rafael, CA.
