The savory, dense ruby/plum/purple-colored 2003 La Fleur de Bouard reveals good density, tannin and structure, plenty of broad, sweet flavors and excellent definition as well as length. It is culled from specific parcels and vinified in tiny, squat stainless steel and oak fermenters. It receives the full Burgundy treatment of malolactic in barrel and aging sur-lie. It is also bottled (unfined and unfiltered) much later than La Fleur de Bouard (usually 33 months following the vintage). Production for the luxury wine is tiny, 250 cases versus nearly 6,000 cases of La Fleur. Anticipated Maturity: now-2016.
