The 2010 Jaspi Negre is a blend of 45% Garnacha, 25% Carinena, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Syrah from 25- to 100-year-old vines sourced from several small estates and aged for 12 months in American and French oak. It has a clean, pure bouquet of lifted cassis, blueberry and violet aromas, the Syrah making its presence felt. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins and does not quite have the cohesion of the nose, while the sinewy finish offers attractive blackberry, sloe and mocha notes. Drink now-2016.
