Riesling is king at Domaine Marcel Deiss. I tasted seven totally distinct Rieslings with Deiss. The 1994 Riesling Burg Vendange Tardive offers up a lemony/fruit cocktail scents intermingled with aromas of honey and minerals. The wine tastes dry because of its high acidity. It possesses superb richness, medium body, and an exceptionally long finish. This impressive Riesling's moderate residual sugar is hidden behind the high acidity. It will age impeccably for 15+ years. Readers should realize that the 1994s are exceptionally young, relatively unevolved wines that are just beginning to hint at their potential.Robert Kacher: 2015 Vine Street NE, Washington, DC 20018; tel.
