Not surprisingly, the 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape has that hard tannic grip that characterizes some of the 2003s. It is fruity with a resiny nose and hints of orange blossom and peach in the over-ripe, almost tropical and exotic nose. Fat and fleshy with the hard tannins kicking in at the end, this wine is somewhat of a poster child for the 2003 vintage. You’ll either really like it or find it out of sync. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. Importer: Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, CA; tel. (510) 524-1524
