In tasting through the 1995 and 1996 red wines from Fisher, it is obvious that the 1995s are more jagged, with rougher, harder tannin. The wines possess good stuffing, but it will take a few more years of aging for that to become obvious. The 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon Lamb Vineyard is a leaner, tighter, more angular and astringent wine than the 1996, with a dark purple color, leafy, tobacco, smoky flavors, a backward, unformed personality, and plenty of tannin in the finish. It is certainly excellent, and probably will unfold over the next decade, but the wine still plays it tight to the vest. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2012. It is in limited quantity (about 300 cases were produced). Tel. (707) 539-7511; fax (707) 539-3601
