Kubler’s 2007 Pinot Gris Zinnkoepfle Selection de Grains Nobles offers peach, litchi, and intense brown spices, all of which call to mind a blend with Gewurztraminer. The sheer intensity here is backed by confectionary sweetness and formidable viscosity, yet there is an admirable purity of spiced peach preserve and honey in the finish, with not a bit of funk. This will probably remain fresh for at least 25 years, and perhaps along the way gain further complexity.Young Philippe Kubler returned to his family’s estate in 2004 after diverse and impressive international experience and is conscientiously working to pull this domaine into the vanguard of its region. It should be noted that the initial “K” in several Kubler bottlings is merely a way of designating his basic range of bottlings.Importers include Chateau St. Martin, Bellevue, WA; tel.
