Foxen’s 2005 Pinot Noirs are more restrained, streamlined, and neither as powerful nor impressive as their 2004s, but they will be admired by those looking for more subtlety and elegance. Displaying a medium to dark ruby color, the 2005 Pinot Noir Julia’s Vineyard possesses more earth, underbrush, and spice characteristics along with some background notes of fresh mushrooms, cherries, and herbs. Medium-bodied with tart acidity and a clipped, compact finish, it is best drunk over the next 4-5 years.
