The expensive 2001 Shiraz Estate is no shy wine at 15% alcohol, but it does not possess the personality of its sibling. A saturated black/ruby color is followed by copious aromas of ground pepper, blackberries, licorice, and dried herbs. Youthful as well as slightly austere, most of its power and concentration are at the back of the palate. This 2001 will be even better with another 1-2 years of bottle age, and will keep for 10-12 years.
