The 2005 Summa Reserva is a blend of Tempranillo, Mazuelo, and Graciano that went through malolactic in barrel with lees stirring followed by 14 months in new oak. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it gives up enticing notes of pain grille, pencil lead, lavender, exotic spices, and assorted black fruits. Medium-bodied with considerable elegance on the palate, it displays succulent fruit, enough underlying structure to evolve for 3-4 years, excellent balance, and a lengthy, pure finish. Give it 3-4 years of additional cellaring and drink it from 2015 to 2025.
Bodegas Olarra was founded in 1973 and is located in the heart of the Denominacion de Origen Calificada Rioja on the outskirts of Logrono.
