The 2000 Fratta is a superb blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon and 46% Merlot aged 18 months in new French oak. This unfined/unfiltered red is the qualitative equivalent of a first or second growth Bordeaux. Its saturated ruby/purple color is followed by gorgeous aromas of cigar smoke intermixed with cedar, cassis, chocolate, and espresso. Full-bodied, rich, and layered, this is a Pauillac from Veneto ... believe it or not. Although still composed of primary fruit notes, it can be drunk now or aged for 10-15 years.
