This is the sixth or seventh vintage of their Syrah, and it hits the palate with tangy, tart red berry fruit. The spice and pepper suggest Syrah; otherwise it is a dead ringer for Dry Creek Zin. The blend includes about 8% Grenache, which adds to the forward fruit intensity. But it’s not just fresh and forward and fruity, it is also balanced and lingers into a chocolatey farewell. —P.G.——P.G.(9/1/2002)—— 89
