The 2019 Weissburgunder Reserve is sourced from VDP. Erste Lage (premier cru) vineyards predominantly or even entirely in Siefersheim and opens with an intense, refined and elegant nose reminiscent of sur lie aging and eventually a touch of traditional oak that doesn't give oaky flavors but a certain development that opens the bouquet and gives it a French attitude yet with the purity of the Siefersheim terroir. On the palate, this is a round, charming, very elegant and balanced Pinot Blanc with texture, ripe and fine acidity and lingering salinity. This Pinot has the sur lie complexity and fruity elegance of a fine white Burgundy even if the crystalline and minerally fresh finish is not from limestone but volcanic or even crystalline rocks. 13% stated alcohol. Diam cork. Tasted in January 2022.
