The 2004 Valpolicella Ripasso Le Sassine reveals a delicate personality in its sweet red cherries, earthiness and tobacco. It offers excellent length in an understated style, with a resonating note of sweetness that lingers on the finish. In 2004 I preferred the Sassine to the Ragose bottling because of the wine’s greater depth of fruit. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2012.
Le Ragose is a terrific source for traditionally made wines from Veneto. I find the wines always need some time in the glass to come together.
