The 2007 Riesling Spatlese shows more fruit intensity on the nose with a stonier character compared to the Riesling Dry and then with further aeration, a more floral, Mosel-like personality. Lively on the entry with touches of ripe apricot and Clementine, a good level of acidity and you would never tell it has 83-gms residual due its pH (2.85). Delicate and well-poised on the finish – this is impressive. This was my first visit to Fromm, whose winery is based just outside Blenheim.
