Produced from vines that are over 50 years old, harvested at a paltry 15 hectoliter per hectare yields, and vinified as well as aged entirely in new oak barrels, the 2003 Meursault Genevrieres Cuvee des Pierre (white) explodes from the glass with apricots, plums, hazelnuts, and peaches. Medium-bodied, broad, and rich, this wine offers thick layers of buttered toast, poached pear, and grilled oak flavors. A lush, almost decadent offering, there is no trace of the 320 grams (for me a whopping amount) of acid that was added to it (while other, less acidified, wines at this estate made my mouth pucker). Drink it over the next 6 years.
