The Corimbo I is a vineyard selection that is fermented in oak vats with malolactic in barrel and raised in a prudent 20% new oak. The 2009 Corimbo I has a similar aromatic profile to the Corimbo, but there is more delineation and tautness, more lift and vibrancy. On the palate, the tannins are a little rounder on the entry. It seems a little oaky at the moment but that should integrate with time. There is certainly good build in the mouth that leads to a masculine finish with layers of blackberry and broody, almost earthy dark fruit with a tangible savory character. Again it is missing a little personality at this stage, but it is well made.
