Herbs, earth, and sassafras along with briery, berry fruit and loamy soil notes made me think of something between Zinfandel and Pinot Noir when I smelled and tasted the 2004 Zinfandel Tofanelli Vineyard. Dark ruby-tinged and seemingly on a faster evolutionary track than its siblings, it should be consumed over the next 3-5 years.
