The heady, perfumed and hedonistic 2015 Alabaster was produced with grapes from ancient ungrafted grapes from 11.5 hectares of their own vineyards in the Valmediano, La Jara and Marinacea crus. It fermented in open-top vats, it was foot trodden and aged in new French oak barrels for 18 months. There is no more structure or concentration as we go up in the quality and price ladder, but the effect of the élevage is more obvious, and the wines require more time to better integrate the oak. Its medium to full-bodied, with abundant, grainy tannins and an XL balance. This is always a rich cuvée, exuberant and open. These 2015s do not show especial heat, even though 2015 was a warm and dry year. 4,000 bottles were filled in July 2017.
