The 2011 Dolcetto d’Alba is a simple, straightforward every day wine with good varietal character and fine balance. There is nothing fancy here, but neither is the price. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2014.
Enrico Scavino’s entry-level wines are very good, but not great. Scavino has chosen to make the wines at the lower end of his range in a much simpler style than his top wines, which sets him apart from most of his colleagues at the upper echelon of Barolo producers, many of whom make more important entry-level wines.
