The 2019 Pinot Noir Dry River is deep and concentrated. It offers up dense damson notes, fruitcake, black tea and subtle herbal characters, filling the mouth with its powerful, rich fruit core while being a savory and satisfying expression. A rich, tannic structure provides a frame for cellaring. Stylistically, this is rather more impressive and bold than 2018, and many will prefer the latest offering, but with my classic English hat on, I would choose the restraint and tranquility of the 2018 at this stage. Still, the 2019 is certainly another excellent Pinot from Dry River, where the viticulture and vinification keep evolving and improving.
