The 2006 Barbera d’Alba Gisep is the estate’s top of the line Barbera and spends 18 months in French oak. This big, imposing Barbera is packed with ripe dark fruit, tar and licorice in a brooding, backward style typical of wines from Serralunga. As delicious as the 2006 Gisep is, I had a preference for the 2007 regular bottling. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2014. Massolino is another of the producers in Barolo with a solid line-up of delicious wines from top to bottom.Importer: Domaine Select, New York, NY; tel. (212) 279-0799
