The estate’s single-vineyard 2003 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Nocio dei Boscarelli (85% Prugnolo Gentile, 15% Merlot and 5% Mammolo) reveals red cherries, underbrush and sweet toasted oak in a style that marries superb concentration to a palate sensation of lightness, with outstanding balance and a lingering note of sweetness on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2018.
Proprietor Paola De Ferrari makes some of the area’s reference-point wines at her estate in Montepulciano. Her single-vineyard Nocio dei Boscarelli is typically among the finest expressions of Vino Nobile. Winemaking is overseen by consulting oenologist Maurizio Castelli.
