Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Charmes-Chambertin 2011 from Perrot-Minot actually looks a little more forward in the glass compared to its peers. The nose offers plenty of ripe red fruit tinged with marmalade and orange rind, perhaps a little flaccid compared to others. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and well-judged acidity. The palate exhibits more cohesion than the nose, leading to a slightly reserved but persistent finish. I like the elegance here, but it needs more substance.

A compact, fresh style, exhibiting intense cherry, currant, sandalwood and toasty vanilla aromas and flavors. Firm and muscular, in a well-toned, elegant way. Shows fine length and equilibrium.
