There are 630 cases of the 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon, much of which came from the Beckstoffer sector of the To-Kalon Vineyard. Notes of fudge, licorice, earth, and smoke compete with black currants in this medium-bodied wine. The only drawback is some gritty tannin in the finish. Wonderful richness, with a silky texture and gobs of currant, mineral, cedar, plum and earthy flavors that are concentrated and sharply focused. Finishes with a gush of mocha and rich fruit. Best from 2003 through 2010. 631 cases made. -JL
