The purple-colored 2005 Merlot displays aromas of spice box, violets, earth notes, and red currants leading to a forward, ripe, savory, spicy offering with good balance and length. It will drink nicely for another 3-4 years. Bodegas Salvador Poveda makes its first appearance in this journal since 1992. Its three entry level offerings are excellent values.
