There are 5,000 cases of this gutsy, robust Italian red wine made in the backwater "heel" of Italy. It reveals an amber edge to its evolved medium ruby color, as well as a spicy, tar, earthy-scented nose, meaty, smoky, dried herb-like flavors, and a robust finish. The wine is rustic, but neither coarse nor astringent. It should be served with full-flavored grilled foods, or with robust cheese. Drink it over the next 1-2 years. The wine is made from 60% Aglianico and 40% Montepulciano.
