A somewhat similar blend from the Watch Hill Vineyard, the 2005 Bossman is composed of 99% Syrah and 1% Viognier. More structured, tannic, and powerful than the Optimist, the Bossman exhibits a dark ruby/purple hue followed by notes of charcoal, smoked herbs, blackberries, and cassis. Significant tannin suggests it will benefit from 1-2 years of cellaring; it should keep for a decade or more. This interesting operation uses distinctively artistic labels, much in the style of Sine Qua Non, as well as heavy bottles.Tel. (805) 640-9432
