A gorgeous offering, the 2007 Syrah Colson Canyon is still primary, but it should develop more nuances with time. A powerful Syrah, it exhibits beautifully integrated tannin, sweet blue and black fruits, plenty of floral notes, and hints of graphite as well as camphor. This serious wine needs another year or so of bottle age, and should keep for a decade. A nice discovery in my Paso Robles tastings were these cuvees from Barbieri, all of which are impeccably well made as well as fairly priced.Tel. (702) 279-9034; Fax (805) 715-1510
