Just before I arrived in Bordeaux, this winery experienced a large fire and while the inventory in barrel and bottle was saved, the winery was heavily damaged. Could that be why the 2010 seems slightly clipped and monolithic for a cuvee that has often been a brilliant example of a 100% Merlot? It possesses a deep ruby color, but lacks the concentration, fat and texture of such top vintages as 2005, 2001 and 2000. The straightforward 2010 should be drunk over the next 7-8 years.
