The 2012 Mountain Blanco is pure Moscatel from vineyards on slate slopes at altitudes ranging from 550 to 1,000 meters. The grapes are purchased from growers who practice traditional viticulture and was fermented in stainless-steel tanks with indigenous yeasts where it matured for nine months. 2012 was a warm and dry vintage–quite a short crop. The nose is quite Moscatel but at the same time it has the telltale bay leaf, balsamic notes of the Molino Real. The palate is light to medium-bodied, quite balanced, with a slight bitterness toward the finish. This is a versatile wine for the table. These wines age surprisingly well in bottle (first vintage was 2009) so you can drink this now or leave it to develop in bottle. 9,000 bottles were produced.
