The 2012 Friuli Colli Orientali Riesling is a wine of medium intensity and momentum that shows more heft and determination in the mouth than it does on the bouquet. Riesling-driven aromas of quince, fresh pear, lychee fruit, crushed mineral and white rose give the wine a bright and food-friendly personality. Californian roll sushi or crispy fried shrimp might do the trick. It’s not outwardly sweet, but there is a noticeable touch of softness here. Drink: 2014-2015.
