Like many vintages for the Barton-owned pair of Leoville and Langoa, it is often difficult to conclude which is the better wine since they are made and handled identically. The 1981 Langoa is medium bodied, with good color, a spicy, moderately fruity bouquet, and solid tannins that are beginning to soften. It is a trifle austere. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 10/90.
