Coming from a block planted in 1978 in the St. Jakobi vineyard, the 2009 Single Barrel Cabernet Sauvignon was matured in a single, new French oak hogshead. Deep garnet-purple in color, it offers pronounced notes of black currants, blackberries and warm plums with nuances of cedar, toast, yeast extract, violets, cigar boxes and a whiff of lavender. Full bodied and very concentrated in the mouth, the youthful fruit is taut and nervy at this stage with a firm level of finely grained tannins and crisp acid, finishing long and remarkably elegant. Consider drinking it 2014 to 2024+. Importer: Baum Wine Imports, Aurora, CO.
