The 2009 Estate Chardonnay has ripe apricot, white peach, melon and acacia honey aromas with a gentle yeasty undercurrent. The palate is medium bodied with taut, concentrated fruit, high acidity, a good amount of texture and a long stone fruit finish. Drinking now, it should remain good through 2015.
Established in 1999, in 2004 this property was acquired by Martin Spedding who has taken an active role in the winemaking and given the whole range a quality injection. The wines are skillfully and naturally crafted at Moorooduc. Production is small at 5-6000 cases per year. With some seriously interesting single vineyard Chardonnays and Pinots already being produced here, this is name to watch.
Ten Minutes By Tractor does not currently have a USA importer.
