The 1997 Chablis Les Clos is fabulous. It boasts a profound nose of marzipan, minerals, stones, earth, and toasted hazelnuts. This wine, produced entirely in oak barrels (20% new with the balance being 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 years old), coats the taster's mouth with liquid minerals, poached pears, apple-flavored candied, and hints of vanilla. It is extremely well-balanced, medium-to-full-bodied, chewy, broad, dense, and possesses an impressively long and suave finish. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2007.
