As I have written before, this winery is turning out a bevy of high quality wines. For example, I do not know of any winery that is producing better Oregon Merlot and Cabernet than Foris. The 1994 Chardonnay Reserve is a rich, flavorful, Burgundian-styled Chardonnay. Although backward, it offers considerable promise. I recommend decanting it for 15-20 minutes before consuming it. A light gold color is accompanied by a tight aromatic profile of honey, white flowers, and citrusy fruit. Full-bodied and powerful, yet nicely buttressed by acidity and excellent, nearly outstanding extract, this rich, layered, still young and backward Chardonnay may merit a score in the low nineties if it develops as I believe it might. Give it another 4-6 months of bottle age, or decant it prior to serving, and drink it over the next 2-3+ years. Tel. (800) 84 FORIS
