The 2011 Vinyes Velles is a superb effort for the warm, dry growing season, a little less open than the 2012, at least in the nose, where the fruit is black rather than red. On the palate there is a little more astringency and the tannins seem a bit more rustic, but still come through as a powerful and (contradictory) elegant 2011. This vintage resulted in 20,609 bottles.
