The 2009 Pinot Noir O’Donnell reveals an enticing nose of damp earth, anise, clove, vanillin, and assorted red fruits. It opens in the glass to exhibit a satin texture, suave personality, and above average depth and concentration for the vintage. It is likely to evolve for 1-2 years and will provide optimal drinking from 2012 to 2019. Steven and Allison Whiteside own Bella Vida Winery. Each of their three Pinot Noir bottlings is made by a different winemaker (although one of the cuvees could not be recommended in this vintage). Quantities are small ranging from 150 to 220 cases.Tel. (503) 538-9821; www.bellavida.com
