The 2006 Superius is a blend of Bobal (indigenous to Utiel Requena), Cabernet Franc, Syrah, and Merlot aged for 30 months in French oak. It delivers a remarkably complex bouquet of exotic spices, incense, lavender, smoke, and assorted black fruits. On the palate it is dense and rich with layers of spicy fruit, a voluptuous character, and a lengthy, fruit-filled finish. A wine like this has no track record but it appears to have the structure to evolve for several years and should easily drink well for a decade or more. Tasting these unique expressions is reminiscent of Bob Dylan’s famous verse, “There’s something happening here, but I don’t know what it is?Do you, Mr. Jones?”
