I tasted the final blend of this wine, with the sulfur correction and everything a mere couple of weeks before bottling, so the final version should be very much like it. The white 2014 Ercavio Blanco is pure Airén, the white grape from La Mancha, a shy grape, kept in tank in contact with the lees until bottling. The wine is fresh and fruit-driven, quite light but at the same time with volume from the contact with the lees. It's still very young, and I like it with time in bottle, when the green apple aromas turn into white flowers and develop aniseed and fennel notes. Fresh and clean, very pleasant to drink. Just as a reference point, I tasted this wine back to 2010, and the different vintages were taking a different character, with less fruit and developing some honeyed aromas, with even some balsamic, camphor-like character quite typical of white Mediterranean whites. So you don't need to drink the wine as soon as possible, in fact you might like it more on its second year. Great value. 40,000 bottles.
