An outstanding villages offering from a lesser-known (in the US) commune, the 2003 Aloxe-Corton bursts forth with aromas of black fruits, spices, and cassis liqueur. An intense, medium to full-bodied wine, it exhibits wonderful concentration, power, depth, ripeness, and length. This broad, ample effort is jam-packed with plummy black cherries that linger in its persistent, if slightly warm (from alcohol) finish. Projected maturity: now-2012.
