The 2011 Etnic Blanco is a subtly-oaked Garnacha Blanca (part of the wine was in new oak barrels for three months and the rest stayed in stainless steel vats) which mixes notes of smoky wood and baking spices with yellow and white fruit, with a medium to full-bodied palate with great acidity, clean flavors and a powerful, persistent finish. The nose on the 2010 Etnic Blanco is quite closed, with traces of crushed stone and melon, though it seems a little smudged at this stage. The palate is balanced and simple, with a pleasing waxy texture and touches of white peach and grapefruit towards the finish. This represents fine, easy drinking pleasure. Drink now-2015. Celler El Masroig is Monstant’s largest co-operative. It was founded in 1917 between grape and olive growers and consists of 300 members who tend 500 hectares of vineyard.
