The 2012 Jaspi Negre is a blend of 45% Garnacha, 25% Cari?ena, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Syrah aged for three months in French and American oak barrels and then matured for one year in concrete vats before being bottled in October 2014. Straightforward and fruit-driven with well-integrated oak, it's quite refreshing, easy to drink save for some dusty tannins that call for food. 60,000 bottles.

The 2011 Jaspi Negre is a blend of 45% Garnacha, 25% Carinena, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Syrah aged for a short time in oak and then matured for one year in concrete vats. It is extremely balsamic and spicy, with notes of eucalyptus, mint, licorice, black olives and even hints of petrol. The palate is a little bit aggressive, with some harsh tannins that need taming, and an unusual set of flavors. A red of strong personality that left me scratching my head. Drink 2015-2017. This is the project of brothers Toni and Miquel Coca i Fito from a winegrowing family from Penedes. Toni Coca is a known oenologist who advises some 25 different wineries in the region. The 2010 Jaspi Negre is a blend of 45% Garnacha, 25% Carinena, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Syrah from 25- to 100-year-old vines sourced from several small estates and aged for 12 months in American and French oak. It has a clean, pure bouquet of lifted cassis, blueberry and violet aromas, the Syrah making its presence felt. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins and does not quite have the cohesion of the nose, while the sinewy finish offers attractive blackberry, sloe and mocha notes. Drink now-2016.
