This is a step up from Coli’s straight Chianti, with bolder, more forceful aromas of earth, cherry and tobacco and an extra layer of weight on the palate. Like all of the Coli wines, it’s based solely on traditional grapes; in this case, 80% Sangiovese, with lesser amounts of Canaiolo, Trebbiano and Malvasia.——W.E.(11/1/2002)—— 85
